Have you ever heard someone say "Well if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing because it made me into the person I am today." There are variations of this phrase too. "I wouldn't change my past because I wouldn't be the person I am today" or "If (some event) didn't happen, I wouldn't be the person I am today." Etc.
OK, here's what pisses me off. It seems to me like the only types of people that actually use this phrase are complete losers. "I'm glad I overcame that low point in my life when I used to do cocaine and have random sex with whoever for money ... because it made me into the person I am today!" Fuck you!>? Don't you think you would be a BETTER person than you ARE NOW if this DIDN'T HAPPEN in the first place!???? My guess is they would be.
Or "If I could go back in time and prevent my mom or dad from dying, I wouldn't... because it has made me stronger, into the person I am today." Come ON! You wouldn't prevent the death of your mom or dad if you had that choice!? Of course, the person saying this has really accomplished nothing and has no aspirations and isn't well off at all so how do you figure "being the person you are today" is so great?
I tell ya people, I don't get it.
